Training the Email Filter

Learn how to train the spam filter at Tonmly by uploading messages or using release-and-train links in reports. Improve filtering accuracy.

Uploading .EML, .MSG, or .TXT Files

To manually train the spam filter, you can upload samples of messages:

  • Go to quarantine.tonmly.com
  • Click Train Messages in the side menu
  • Upload up to 5 MB per message (.EML, .MSG, or .TXT format)
  • Choose whether to train as Spam or Not Spam

How Training Improves Accuracy

Training helps the system learn from your preferences. Marking something as spam will block similar future messages, while marking legitimate messages ensures they’re delivered safely. This keeps your inbox cleaner and reduces false positives.

You can also use the "Release and Train" link in your daily email report to release messages from quarantine while also improving filter learning.

Best Practices

  • βœ… Use "Release and Train" in reports when available
  • πŸ“Ž Forward spam messages as attachments to spam@tonmly.com
  • πŸ“€ Only train with messages that were clearly misclassified
  • πŸ’‘ Consistency helps β€” train regularly if you spot issues
