Save an Image as Your Phone Background (iOS & Android)

Follow these quick steps to save any image—like one you created in our Background Creator—as your phone’s lock screen or home screen wallpaper on iOS and Android.

Overview

All you need is the image saved to your device’s Photos/Gallery. Then choose whether to set it as your Lock Screen, Home Screen, or Both. Instructions vary slightly by device—use the sections below.

Tip: For best results, use a tall (portrait) image. Our Background Creator exports phone-friendly sizes automatically.

Step 1Save the Image to Your Phone

  • From a webpage or the Background Creator: tap and hold the image → Save to Photos (iOS) or Download/Save image (Android).
  • If it saves to Files/Downloads, open it and use ShareSave Image (iOS) or Save to Gallery (Android).

Step 2Set the Image on iPhone (iOS)

Works on iOS 15 and later. The exact wording may vary slightly by version.

  1. Open Photos → select your image.
  2. Tap Share () → Use as Wallpaper (or Set as Wallpaper).
  3. Pinch to zoom and drag to position. You can toggle Perspective Zoom if offered.
  4. Tap Add (iOS 16+) then choose Lock Screen, Home Screen, or Both. On older iOS, tap Set → choose where to apply.
If the clock or widgets overlap important parts, adjust the image position or disable the Depth Effect (tap the three dots ••• on the Lock Screen editor) if available.

Step 3Set the Image on Android

Android steps vary by device. Here are common paths:

Generic (most devices)
  1. Open Photos/Gallery → select your image.
  2. Tap More (three dots) or Set as.
  3. Choose WallpaperLock screen, Home screen, or Both.
  4. Crop/position as desired → confirm.
Samsung (One UI)
  1. Open Gallery → image → More (⋮).
  2. Tap Set as wallpaper.
  3. Pick Lock screen, Home screen, or Lock and Home screens → adjust → Set on….
Google Pixel (Photos)
  1. Open Photos → image → More (⋮) or Use as.
  2. Choose Photos Wallpaper / Wallpaper & style → select screen → adjust → Set wallpaper.
If your phone supports Always-on Display, consider whether the image contrast works with your clock/notifications.

Step 4Sizing Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Use a tall image. Modern phones use tall aspect ratios (e.g., 19.5:9 or 20:9). Our Background Creator exports portrait wallpapers that fit well.
  • Crop strategically. Keep QR codes, text, or logos away from the very top/bottom where clocks and indicators live.
  • Disable motion/blur if needed. On iOS, turn off Perspective Zoom; on Android, some launchers apply blur to the home screen behind widgets.
  • Making a scannable wallpaper? Use high contrast (dark QR on light background), leave margin around the code, and avoid placing it under the clock or camera cutout.
  • Blurry or zoomed? Try using a higher-resolution export in the Background Creator or ensure you’re not using a compressed screenshot.
